What we do

Every floor a Portland home wears

6 specialties, one standard: flat, quiet underfoot, and finished to the last row. Every job carries the same written flat-rate quote and two-year warranty.

Why Oakform

A floor is the one surface you touch all day

It should be chosen by hand and installed by people who sweat the last row. Here is what that means in practice.

The sample goes down before the stain does
We put real finish samples on your actual boards, in your own light, before you choose. Nobody should pick a floor color off a laminated fan deck.
Our crews, our payroll
Every installer works for us directly — background-checked, trained to our install spec, and building a reputation they have to live with on the next job. Nothing gets subcontracted out to whoever answered a text that morning.
The quote is the invoice
Measured twice, priced once, in writing. If we misjudge the subfloor work once a room is opened up, that difference is ours to eat — the number you signed is the number you pay.
Dust stays in the machine
Refinishing and sanding run through sealed dustless rigs, floors get protected paths in and out, and we vacuum the room corners before we ever ask for a signature.
Fan of real flooring material samples laid out for a homeowner consult
Every estimate includes a sample consult — real material, your light, no showroom guesswork.

How it works

From first measure to final walk-through

Four stages, each with a name attached and a deliverable in writing.

  1. Stage 1 of 4

    A free in-home measure & sample consult

We measure every room, check the subfloor and moisture, and leave samples behind so you can live with the color for a few days. No pressure, no deposit.

  2. Stage 2 of 4

    One written flat-rate number

Materials, labor, prep, and haul-away in a single line-item quote with a real start date. Valid for 60 days — the price doesn’t move after you sign.

  3. Stage 3 of 4

Our crew, a protected home, daily broom-clean

Furniture moved, paths masked, cuts made outside where possible. Most homes finish in 2–4 days, and you get a text every morning with that day’s plan.

  4. Stage 4 of 4

Inspect it board by board, then the warranty goes on paper

You walk every room with the crew lead before final payment. Two years of workmanship coverage goes on paper — and we come back if anything moves.

Questions

Asked at nearly every estimate

Straight answers to the things homeowners actually want to know.

How much does a new floor actually cost?

Most hardwood installations run $8 to $14 per square foot installed; LVP typically runs $5 to $9, and refinishing $4 to $6. Every written quote is flat-rate — materials, labor, prep, and haul-away in one number that doesn’t change after you sign.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The in-home measure, moisture check, and sample consult are free and take about 45 minutes. You only pay if you approve the work, and the quote stays valid for 60 days.

How long will my project take?

Most single-room and whole-home installations take 2–4 days; refinishing runs 3–5 days including cure time between coats. You get a start date in writing with the quote and a text each morning with that day’s plan.

Do we have to move out during refinishing?

Usually not. Dustless sanding rigs capture dust at the machine, and modern waterborne finishes are low-odor and walkable in hours. We’ll tell you honestly at the estimate if your project is the exception.

Who is actually doing the work in my house?

Our own employees — background-checked, on payroll, led by a crew lead who’s been with the company for years. Jobs are never brokered out to whoever answers a text that morning.

What does the workmanship warranty actually cover?

Workmanship: gaps, squeaks, lifting boards, finish defects — anything about how the floor was installed or finished. It’s written on your invoice, and manufacturer warranties on materials come on top of it.

Can you match new flooring to what’s already in the house?

Usually, yes. Stains get custom-blended on your existing boards, and we source from mills that supply the same profiles builders use. Where a perfect match isn’t possible, you’ll see it on a real sample before any work starts, not after.

My floor just flooded, or a pipe burst nearby — how fast can someone actually look at it?

Water-damage calls get priority scheduling and a same-business-day callback — we’re not a round-the-clock dispatch service, but we move fast because drywall and subfloor damage gets worse by the hour. A technician checks moisture levels before recommending anything, so you’re not paying to replace what can still be dried and saved.
